A Day of Learning and Listening in Whakaahurangi/ Stratford
Wai Connection together with the New Zealand Association of Resource Management offered a full day Catchment Management workshop for catchment coordinators last Thursday in Stratford. The workshop was led by Matt Highway from NZARM / EIS exploring the key elements of catchment planning. The workshop was well attended by 25 people from a variety of backgrounds – Te Kaahui o Rauru, Te Ihowai, Te Kāhui o Taranaki, Taranaki Catchment Communities, Taranaki Regional Council, Wild for Taranaki as well as New Plymouth District Council. It provided some great discussions, a common theme was the importance and value of connecting in person and then listening to the stories of the land and supporting groups to add to those stories by supporting them to monitor, assess and restore habitats.
