The Community Fund is intended to support biodiversity restoration and conservation projects across Taranaki. Applications will be accepted annually during March–June.
The Community Fund is open to applications from Wild for Taranaki members, as well as non-members. Non-member applicants are required to supply additional information about the biodiversity benefits of the project or activity.
We are always looking for ways to increase biodiversity gains in the region. We welcome donations (big and small) to the Community Fund. More information on how to make a donation can be found here.
Eligibility Criteria for all applicants:
- Applicants must have set up or reviewed their Action Hub profile in the last 12 months. (Don’t worry—if you need assistance, our operations team is here to help!)
- A maximum of $4000 (GST exc) can be applied for
- Funds must be used within 12 months of receipt
- Funds can be used for a variety of biodiversity activities, including restoration, trapping, monitoring, upskilling, and other initiatives that contribute to the enhancement of Taranaki’s biodiversity.
- Applicants must provide a brief report on the outcomes of funding (including photos), so that we can monitor how our funding makes an impact on Taranaki’s biodiversity.

Please provide 200 words summarizing the specific activities you intend to carry out with the funding and how this aligns with your organisation’s vision and purpose. How does your project benefit Taranaki’s biodiversity?
Application process for non-member organisations and private land-owners
Please provide a detailed summary of your project, including the following:
- Achievements to Date: Briefly describe the progress your project has made so far. What actions have been taken, and what successes or milestones have been reached?
- Long-Term Goals: Outline the long-term objectives of your project. How do you envision it contributing to Taranaki’s biodiversity in the coming years? What is the lasting impact you hope to achieve?
- Expected Outcomes with Funding: Explain how you plan to use the funding and what specific results you aim to achieve. This could include restoring a particular habitat, increasing biodiversity in a specific area, or scaling up current activities.
- Expert Guidance: List any expert advice or consultation you have sought in relation to your project. This may include assistance with restoration plans, advice on best practices, or collaboration with environmental professionals. Demonstrating that your project follows expert guidance ensures that your efforts are grounded in proven methods.
- Wider Connectivity: Describe how your project contributes to the broader ecological landscape and regional biodiversity efforts. How does it link with or complement the work of neighboring landowners or community groups, fostering connectivity across the region?
This information will help us understand the scope and impact of your project, and how it aligns with Taranaki’s biodiversity goals.
