We can’t do it alone. We need your help! Any money you donate will go directly to supporting Taranaki projects restoring and protecting biodiversity. You get to choose where it goes to. And if you can’t help out with cash, you can help in other ways.
In September 2025 Wai Connection hosted two inspiring days of learning, connection, and deep exploration of our precious wetlands in Taranaki through the Te Repo | Wetlands Wānanga with freshwater ecologist and wetland specialist Dr. Rebecca Eivers.
From kōrero to hands-on experiences across diverse wetland sites, the wānanga brought together voices from across the region—mana whenua, scientists, farmers, community members, and environmental practitioners—to explore what it means to create, care for and restore these vital ecosystems. Rebecca shared her knowledge about “the right wetland in the right place for the right reasons,” which was both educational and uplifting.
Our participants included reps from TRC, Fish & Game, TCC, Te Kāhui o Taranaki, Te Kaahui o Rauru, Te Ihowai, DOC, Te Kāhui Maru Trust, Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Mutunga, Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Tama, Te Kotahitanga o Te Atiawa, Te Korowai o Ngāruahine Trust as well as private landowners.
