We can’t do it alone. We need your help! Any money you donate will go directly to supporting Taranaki projects restoring and protecting biodiversity. You get to choose where it goes to. And if you can’t help out with cash, you can help in other ways.
The first quarter of the 2025–2026 year has been a busy and rewarding time for the Wai Connection team! Over the past three months, the team has delivered 68 activities and collaborative events across the region.
From sharing knowledge at the Taranaki ReGen Winter Catch-Up to rolling up sleeves for the Waiau Stream Community Planting and undertaking Saltwedge Surveys and Īnanga Habitat Assessments, our team has been out across the rohe supporting healthy waterways and thriving communities. Training sessions like the Macroinvertebrate ID Workshop at Otaraua have helped strengthen local freshwater monitoring skills, while school and community events—such as with Tawhero School and St George’s South Taranaki—are inspiring the next generation of freshwater kaitiaki.
These activities highlight what Wai Connection is all about: collaboration, community, and connection. A huge thank-you to everyone who’s joined us so far—together we’re creating a ripple effect for the health of our wai across Taranaki.
